Day one:
The first day of work was a lot of fun! My uncle and I arrived Grace Community Church, my upcoming job for the next three weeks, at 9:45 am on Monday. From there, I was given a personal tour of the building and introduced the staff of the biggest church in Montrose. On this day it just so happens that they were having their monthly meeting and going over everything for the month. That was really interesting to see all of the staff together and working so well together, while still laughing and having fun. We had tacos with all of them, then went to my new office. Well, kinda, it was a desk set up next to my uncles where I had my own computer and work space. By this point it was 2:00 pm, which meant it was time to get home. Today was really different but awesome at the same time.
Day two:
Day two was the day that we actually started working. I came into work at 9:00 am and went straight to my desk and started working. My uncle gave me a tutorial for photoshop to work on for a bit. Then I started editing a picture of me just to try out some of the things I learned. At this point, it was already 3:30 pm! So, my uncle had to pull me off of my work that I loved doing so much and took me home. It was so interesting getting used to not doing school, and instead actually doing an actual job.
day three
Day three I actually stayed home. My uncle thought it would be good if I stayed home, and just played around with photoshop a bit. So at 9 am, I got out the tutorial video, and got to work. Around 1:00 pm, my uncle came back, picked me up, and we both went back to the church. Once we got to our office, I started helping him with one of the slide advertisements that were going to be shown before the service on Saturday and Sunday. This means that I had to practice "lassoing" this is when you select something from a picture and then you can do whatever you want with it. I moved it onto the add that my uncle has already put together. I did this for two of the advertisements. By the time I was done with those it was 4:00 pm. Time to go home!
Day four
Day four was a very relaxed day, we came into the office around 9:00 am and I started fixing up a few things on the slides with my uncle. Then, after lunch time, I just messed around with a close up of my cousin's eyes. That took up a majority of my day! By the time 4:30 rolled around, I didn't want to stop working! Though, I got to a point where I had to, so we went on home around 5:00 pm that afternoon.
Day five
Friday fun day! Today was the day that we ran through there slides for the service this weekend. Once we were done with that, it was lunch time! We came home, got lunch, then headed back. Jeff, my uncle, decided to give me a tour of the upstairs which was super interesting! Then we came back to the office and started retouching a picture of my cousins and their friends. Around 3:30 my uncle dropped me off at home where I learned some small photoshop tricks that I could use in the future.
day six
Saturday I had off, so on Sunday, we went to the church service where I got to see my slides come alive! That was so amazing to see on the big screens! I really enjoyed the service as well!
Week one
It has been such a fun and different week! I loved seeing what it was actually like being in a workspace and see exactly what goes into making the presentations during a church service. I learned so much about photoshop! A few things I learned was how to touch up someone's face, as well learning about colors and the color wheel. (how colors effect a photo) It was also a blast to see how much you can actually do to a picture! Then, once I saw them on the big screens, I couldn't believe that so many people could see my work and appreciate it.
day seven
Later in the day on Sunday, I had to go back to Durango so I could go the orthodontist, so this meant not working again until Wednesday. Though, my homework for while I was stuck at home was to take a few pictures of my sister and dogs, which was really entertaining and fun. Of course, my cat was not cooperating very much, though it was fun to get my sister all dressed up! I can't wait to see her reaction when she sees what I do with the picture of her.
day eight
Wednesday, aka hump day, which was repeated through-out the day at the church. Was a really laid back day, we came into work around 9:30 and I started working on editing the picture of my sister I took. After lunch, my uncle took me into the sound booth and we started putting the music, lyrics, and slides together for the service. Which was a great break from sitting at the desk all day.
Day nine
Thursday I continued working on the picture for my sister, then I started working pictures of my other family members. This took up my whole day! With a few coffee breaks in between of course.
Day ten
By this point, my uncle had a lot of his own projects to do. So he told me to finish up my little projects, then I helped him with his. I found it very humorous how many last minute requests my uncle's coworkers asked of him; since my uncle practically does all the possible visuals you might see in the church.
day Eleven
Saturday afternoon we left for Phoenix,Arizona. That was a lot of fun. We got to go see my cousin's college and a lot of family. Now when we came back Wednesday and started work again Thursday, my uncle thought I knew enough about photoshop that he let me do whatever projects I wanted for that last week. So that's what I did! I asked my uncle to take a few pictures of me and started getting to work. My first project I decided I was going to do was my looking over the city as if it was some mysterious and murky city.
last week
The rest of the week I finished the project and did one more that was similar to it!
