Why Am I In Spanish?
There could be a bunch reasons why someone is in a Spanish class. They could want to be there to actually learn, others are forced into it by their parents or teachers. Me personally, I never really had a choice to learn a different language. I would actually prefer to learn a separate language, though my parents told me it was best to learn Spanish because a lot of people use Spanish where we live. So I think it’d be very useful now and later in my life if I were to stay in the United States. Though if I were to move, I don’t know if it’d be nearly as useful. I also think it will look really good on college resumes, because it’ll say bilingual and they’ll be more likely to choose me to go to that college.
Park reflection
For this experience, we were given a child that was bilingual. From there, we picked a book to fit their age group. We practiced the book and our speaking skills. When we got to Park Elementary, we got to follow our "little" around their school day and help them when needed. At the the end of the day we got to read our books to them and leave for the day.
When I first met her, we were both very excited. Little kids will always be a little shy when they first meet someone. Though, I think as the day went on, she seemed a lot more open with me. When I came back the second day, she ran right up to me so excited to see me. Which made me feel amazing knowing she loved having me there as much as I loved being there. Through out the second day, my student kept telling me that she was really happy that she had me as a friend. That really brightened my day.
I found it very interesting how similar bilingual kids are treated to everyone else. Though I did notice that she did struggled putting sentences together and understand concepts.
This experience really put into perspective exactly how the language is used in everyday life. A highlight to me was seeing my students face while she was thinking. I could tell that I was really helping her and making her think. I think that the only thing that I would do differently, is actually use use Spanish more myself.
The overall experience was so much fun to me. I loved going back to when I was that age and seeing their little smiling faces. The biggest thing I took away was the realization of everyone using this language on a daily basis.

Travel skit
For the cultural reference, we did a little research to find out that they say cumpleanos instead of saying sir or miss, as well as finding out that most hotels in Cuba will have the bathroom down the hall. We did vocabulary research to find out what exactly we would say, but making sure it was simplified enough that other's could understand. When refining the skit, we actually redid the entire skit, because the concept was not very understanding. To memorize and perform this skit, we had to go over it a lot of times in order to memorize every single word.
I thought it was a lot of fun to make up our own skits and do what we wanted with it. I learned A LOT of new vocabulary and sentence structure.
