Energy and place
The assignment for this project was to find a way that you want to inspire people. Aka your audience. I teamed up with Josh, and together we went around our school, cleaned, and painted the lids of trash cans in order to remind everyone to be kind to the earth. Our mission was to inspire everyone that throws something away to be kind to earth and recycle. With that, we also were asked to write an essay or poem expressing our sense of place. For me, my sense of place was my backyard. So I wrote a essay showing my spiritual connection to that place.
The process for the first project was quite easy. We first had to walk around and find all the trash cans that we needed to paint. Once that was done, we got our paint, and started getting to work. Once they dried, we put them back where they belong. For my essay, I had a little bit of difficulty figure out exactly where I felt most at place. I feel very connected to music, though I thought that writing about my backyard would open more doors for my writing. Once I got the essential questions, I started building off those. Soon, I had my narrative. What I am most proud about my essay was the story itself. A lot of people can connect to my story, making it fun for others to read.

Native american studies project
For this project, we were given the freedom of research any type of source in order to learn more about the native american culture. What I researched personally was a book by Joy Harjo. Within her book she used poems to express her thoughts and actions in the reservation. From there, I wrote an essay about what I found and made a poster exhibiting the essay and a few pictures of her and her book.
The native american's experiences and ideologies impact their identity because they are stereotyped very easily by everyone else, therefore everything they do seems to be held against them. By looking through multiple sources, it enlightened my thoughts on the subject a lot. I got to see her personal thoughts and experiences that she actually went through. When hearing stories about something someone has actually gone through, you connect to it more. It also helped me understand how the world views them politically. To me, history is creative expression. Wherever people wanted to express themselves, was when history happened. |

Deconstructing America
For this project, we were asked to give an oral presentation. In this presentation, you are needed to use rhetorical devices in order to persuade the audience of our perspective.
